Proud To Be
3M Post-It
Pride doesn't stop after June - it is a year-round effort to make the Twin Cities a better, more inclusive place. So, BBDO MLPS teamed up with 3M Post-it® Brand and Street Factory to honor leaders and activists Rox Anderson, Phillipe Cunningham, and Andrea Jenkins, who have dedicated their lives to empowering the LGBTQIA+ community.
The result: a 10'x30' mural in the leaders' likeness made entirely of Post-it Notes. To guide the creation process, BBDO MLPS built a custom AI tool that took portrait photos and turned them into a Post-it "blueprint". Then, a team of 10 hand-stuck the 11,000 Post-it Notes that made up the "pixels" of the mural. The installation, located outside of famed music venue First Avenue, was accompanied by a placard including brief bios of each of the community leaders.
In addition to the mural installation, we activated at the Twin Cities Pride Festival with a booth dedicated to celebrating individuality and positivity. The booth featured a prompt, "Who inspires you to be your true, authentic self?", encouraging Pride Festival goers to help complete a smaller mural by writing their response on a Post-it® Note and placing it in its corresponding color block. Over the course of the two-day festival, the mural was filled up twice with thousands of notes of positivity, words of advice, and Pride.
Located on the walls of the First Avenue concert venue and Loring Park.
